Dear fellow Democrats,
Reminder!! The OCDP Social, May 14th, 4-6 PM at the Homestead Community Center, is on! We're looking forward to seeing you. WE NEED A HEAD COUNT! Send your RSVP by email to: contact@orangedems.com, or phone the OCDP Headquarters at 933-9662.
Please bring a snack or sweet to share. Bring chairs! We will also be serving lemonade, soft drinks and ice cream sundaes! (The Community Center is a county facility, so no alcohol is allowed.)
The program will be fantastic! We are honoring Barry Katz and all the others who helped revitalize the Orange County Party. On board are:
- The Honeysuckle Jazz Quartet from Carol Woods with '30s and '40s favorites.
- Good News - reading (or singing) of Paul Aaron's poem.
- Political Rap with "Sister Rhonda."
- The Klezmer Band - music and dancing with Bert Chessin and company.
We're still hoping for a Gospel group, as well. The Emcee will be our new Chair, Jack Sanders!
Directions: Take NC 86 (MLK Blvd./Historic Airport Rd.) to Homestead Road. Go 2.7 miles west (1.1 miles beyond the Carrboro City Limit sign). The Community Center sign is on the right and will be appropriately decorated for the occasion. (If you get to Old NC 86, you have gone too far!)
Coming from Old NC 86, go east on Homestead Road less than one mile and look for the Homestead Community Center on the left.
